"Anti-Lullaby"

To match the hauntingly beautiful tune of "Anti-Lullaby" by Karen O, this lyrical video pulls inspiration from shadow puppetry.The objective is to create a beautiful, yet unsettling flow of text and images. The illustration and text exist as a single line, white on a black background with the flicker of candle light. It feels airy and choked all at one, almost breathless and desperately trying to keep up.
Single Line Illustration
I was inspired by shadow puppetry when approaching this video. There is an ebb and flow of connectivity and undulating rhythm that I aimed to capture.
Sketching the Lines
I used reference images and sketched single-line illustrations of them using Procreate on my iPad. I then brought these rough sketches into Adobe Illustrator to refine them further.
I broke up the lyrics into digestible segments and hand-drew a fully connected script.
