The Art Cart
Packing & Product Design || Publication Design
Inspired by the therapeutic potential of visual arts for pediatric patients, The Art Cart initiative seeks to bridge the gap in creative resources by providing tailored, research-based activities that support both physical and psychological well-being. By offering a diverse range of engaging projects delivered directly to patient rooms on a specialized cart, The Art Cart facilitates artistic expression while minimizing disruptions to medical care.

The Projects
The adoption of a nostalgic, vintage carnival-inspired visual language for The Art Cart not only infuses each aspect of the project with dynamic visuals and typography but also fosters a sense of universal charm, resonating with patients of all ages and backgrounds.

Project Design: Model Building
Instruction-heavy and construction-focused, this model-building project appeals to technical interests while allowing for creative expression. Drawing on my background in structural design, I created a glue-
free model that assembles easily, along with illustrated stickers that patients can color and place throughout the build for added personalization.
I created both digital and printed instructions for the building project, designed to support auditory, visual, and kinesthetic learners. The goal was to make the materials easy to follow—regardless of literacy level or English proficiency.

Project Design: Craft-Based
This hands-on project leans into the tactile and crafty side of design, allowing for greater creative control over both the process and the final product. I developed four dielines inspired by succulent leaves—each one designed to be diecut from felt and assembled into dimensional forms by patients. To bring these pieces to life, I also created two versatile display mounts to be included in each package.

Project Design: Supply-Based
Supplies don't have to be boring! This themed journal kit is integrated seamlessly with the packaging. It includes intriguing paper scraps, stickers, and more, offering patients the opportunity to creatively reflect on their experiences.

The Cart
The cart was built using traditional woodworking as well as laser design and laser cutting. Through the deliberate fusion of creativity and accessibility, The Art Cart endeavors to uplift and empower pediatric patients, transcending boundaries to become a beacon of hope and inspiration for all.
